Taking a boat trip from around the Roses, Santa Margarida and Empuriabrava area is very easy.

Not only is it cheap, from €13.oo per person, but it's also a great way of seeing this area from a different angle. The Cap de Creus natural coastline is breathtaking, and is now easy to do thanks to some great boat trips. The trips can take you from Empuriabrava, Santa Margarida and Roses over to Cadaques, the home of Salvador Dali and south along the coast to L'Estartit and L'Escala.

The boat trips dont take long, depending on which town you wish to visit. I persoannly would tkae the ride North to Cadaques, the boat ride is amazing, with some of the most beautiful coastline you will probably ever see in your life. Cadaques is home to Salavdor Dali's home, which can be visited but a small charge is required. Cadaques is a beautiful Catalan village, on entering the town from the sea, you can see why Dali and postcard manufacturers love this amazing town.

Their are four routes if you use the Mautilus Boat Trip, heres a quick guide.

Route 1 - Medes Islands Length: 1.15h. Route 2 - Medes Islands and Roca Forada Length: 1.30h. Route 3 - Sant Martí d'Empúries Length: 2.30h. Route 4 - Cadaqués and Cap de Creus Length: 5h.

Castell Trinitat - Roses Costa Brava
It doesnt matter what age you are, Roses has some of the best places to see in the area.

The Citadel
, which is located on the main road in and out of Roses is a must for anyone who loves history. The old buildings and especially the old church which can be dated back to the 5th century, is one of the most important ancient building in the area. The old church is still in use today for open air concerts and even weddings. The church of Santa Maria as it's known, and the surrounding buildings were abondoned in the 19th century, it's still in an amzing condition, but you can see how the more recent years have had an effect.

The El Far Lighthouse which was built in the late 19th century has just been recently restored, and is still in use to this day. The lighthouse stands below the Trinity Castle which was built around 1544 under the reign of Emporer Charles V.

A visit to any of these monuments is a must, but good walking shoes, sun cream and a drink are items advised to take with you.

Roses Costa Brava - Nightlife and Bars

Just because Roses is one of the biggest places for commercial fishing on the Costa Brava, does not mean that it doesnt have some excellent Bars and an even better Nightlife.
If your staying in the Roses area like Santa Margarida, their are plenty of Bars and Nightclubs to keep you going until the early hours. Santa Margarida, a haven for european tourists, has a great selection of nightlife to accomadate every age group, whether your 18 or 80 their is lots of things to do.

Roses is one of the Costa Bravas hidden gems. The town was originally a small fishing village, but since the 1960's, Roses has now developed into one of the regions most visted towns.
